A dental emergency includes situations that require immediate attention to relieve severe pain, stop bleeding, or saving a tooth.
Common dental emergencies include severe toothaches, knocked-out teeth, broken or cracked teeth, and infections like abscesses.
If a tooth is knocked out, handle it by the crown (top part of it) and avoiding the root. If it’s dirty gently rinse with water, but do not scrub it. Time is critical so seek emergency dental care immediately.
You can rinse your mouth with warm salt water, take over-the-counter pain relievers, and applying an ice pack to the area.
Avoid the consumption of very hot, hard or cold foods.
